A well thought out design and plan is the best communication tool between the customer, the builders, the vendors, subcontractors and crew. “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” – Benjamin Franklin
Initial Concept
It all starts with a phone call to discuss exactly what you are looking for in a new barn or garage. We will discuss everything from what the barn will be used for, the size of the barn you’d like, how many animals or vehicles you need to house, does it need plumbing and electric, to what your budget is – we want to take everything into consideration to be sure your barn will meet your needs and expectations.

Initial Meeting
From the phone call we will schedule a meeting to discuss things in more detail. People often have pictures of ideas they have seen or even some sketches they have done. We will sketch out some of your ideas/concepts and talk through the function and aesthetics of your building.

Drafting
From the rough draft and ideas, Black Horse Consulting & Design will begin to draft your building in our CAD design program. Doing this allows us to get a more concrete estimate on pricing. With our CAD software, we can show you exactly what the interior and exterior will look like.
We typically don’t charge for estimating but we do charge for drafting and designing.
Estimates
With the preliminary drawings, we can get you a rough estimate of what your barn will cost based on your ideas and concepts. If the pricing is satisfactory to you, we will continue with the design process and work on more detailed drawings.
Paperwork
Extensive construction drawings, detailed estimates, material lists, and lots of paperwork happens at this point. Once you are ready to proceed with your barn, we provide a simple contract and a down payment is required before continuing.
Permits & Schedule
With drawings and blueprints in hand, we start working with your local jurisdiction to obtain the proper building permits to begin building on your land. With the permits in hand we can begin to form schedule for ordering materials and scheduling contractors.
Construction
The day finally arrives where construction finally begins. Throughout the construction, the project supervisor will oversee the project, direct the crews, coordinate materials and schedules. The project supervisor is responsible to make sure your barn is being built exactly like you want it. If at anytime in the process, you want to tweak or make a change, just say the word and we will be happy to accommodate you! It is your barn.

Project Completion
Finally the day arrives when your barn is complete. It is our goal to leave you as a satisfied new barn owner. It is our goal to meet and even exceed your expectations.
